The recent sighting of Demi Moore and Joe Jonas sent fans into a tailspin after their cozy lunch in France. While photo assumption is always a dangerous game, it’s pretty clear from the two stars’ body language where this friendship is heading.
In the Page Six snapshots, the 61-year-old actress looked breezy in a black dress with a gray sweater wrapped around her shoulders. Jonas kept up his coastal casual style in a khaki-colored shirt and white linen pants, but it’s how the duo interacted that has everyone trying to figure out where they stand. For everyone hoping that this was a hot couple alert, we are here to tell you — it’s the friend zone. Moore and Jonas were giving off strictly platonic energy with the Feud: Capote vs. The Swans star keeping a comfortable distance from the boy bander in one of the images. Her affection was reserved for her tiny pup, Pilaf, who was nestled into her stomach.
An In Touch insider is also confirming that Moore and Jonas have “no romance brewing” — it’s a business friendship. It seems that Moore isn’t interested in dating someone who is 27 years younger — she “learned her lesson” after her eight-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher. Besides, Jonas and Moore were never spotted alone, they were always in a group during their time in France. If they had been canoodling alone, that would have been a much different story!
Moore does have a list of dating requirements when it comes to finding love again, and in addition to the age gap, Jonas doesn’t fit the bill. “She wants to find love and settle down eventually, but she wants it to be with someone outside of the business because, in her view, there’s just not room in a relationship for two stars,” the source noted. It sounds like the G.I. Jane actress is taking a page from Sofía Vergara’s playbook in looking for a man who does not have Hollywood ambitions.
Vergara, who is currently dating orthopedic surgeon Dr. Justin Saliman, joked on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in January that she was also done dating younger men who work in the entertainment industry. “So, in New York, there’s not only like actors or directors, I think… I’m going to spend more time in New York,” she teased with a slight dig at her ex-husband, Joe Manganiello. Perhaps Moore and Vergara are starting a new dating trend for women over 50 in Hollywood — younger actors need not apply!
